The FPLBC 4-3-2-1 Tournament is played using a cutthroat format with each player keeping their individual score. Depending on the number of entrants there may be three or four players on each rink.

Rink assignments are selected randomly with each game played on a different rink. Each player uses four bowls. Order of play is determined by coin toss. After all bowls have been played the one closest to the jack is awarded 4 points, the next closest 3 points, the next 2 points and the next 1 point, for a total of 10 points.

The winner is determined by the total number of points scored. In the event of a tie the players with the tied scores play two more ends on a neutral rink.
